November - December 2026
Cem A. is an artist with a background in anthropology whose work sits at the intersection of art making and art criticism. Through @freeze_magazine, the art meme page he has run since 2019, he turns humour and digital tools back on the art world itself, probing survival, alienation and its unspoken rules with a sharply self-aware eye. Exploring virality and performativity, his practice unfolds through collaborations with artists, researchers and institutions, as well as site-specific installations.
During his residency at PART, Cem A. will dedicate time to research and new work, while connecting with Vienna's artistic community and exploring the city's institutions, independent spaces and conversations around contemporary art.
PART International Art Residency Austria is a programme on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport. Refurbished to meet modern ecological standards between 2023 and 2025 with funding from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility and the Austrian Federal Government, the area currently houses 13 studios for local artists and six international residence studios and THE HALL.
