Meet our new Resident in September: Živa Drvarič (SI)

Through reconfigured everyday objects, elements of dwelling, and spatial dialogue, Živa Drvarič’s practice explores the material environment as a carrier of memory, projection, and meaning. She's interested in how architecture articulates intimacy, mood, and the emotional weight of the everyday. Engaging with objects and elements of dwelling that already carry their own material language, history of use, form, and function opens a way to reflect on how meaning and projection settle into the everyday environment.

At PART, she will continue exploring the thresholds between the familiar and the elusive, where rooms appear inhabited by traces and objects retain the memory of use. In the early twentieth century, Viennese architects approached the interior not just as physical shelter, but as a space that could shape mood, memory, and desire. She will investigate interiors across the city, seeking out the moments where space begins to lose its reliability and opens into a sensual dimension, blurring observation and imagination. Through attentive presence, she intends to follow the idea of atmosphere as a “quasi-object” belonging neither fully to the subject nor to the space, but radiating from their encounter. Alongside her research, she will connect with Vienna’s artistic workshops for production aiming to build lasting relationships within the local art community.
