Carlos Monleón (ES)

Septmeber 2025

Carlos Monleón (b. 1983) is an artist based in Madrid whose sculptural and participatory practice draws on both living and non-living processes. His work spans microbiological, sensory, and social registers, tracing entangled systems of digestion, cognition, and cybernetic metabolism.

At PART, Carlos develops a sound installation that brings audiences closer to the life below the surface of the Danube River. The project combines field recordings of aquatic habitats, experimental choral compositions, and the design of sculptural speakers that will transmit these sonic encounters.

Throughout his residency, Carlos engages with Vienna’s ecological and artistic fabric, crafting a body of work that unfolds across multiple venues in Austria in spring 2026.
