Daniel Baumann (CH)

Daniel Baumann is an art historian, writer, and curator based in Basel. He was curator of the Adolf Wölfli Foundation at the Museum of Fine Arts Bern (1996–2014) and co-founded the Basel exhibition space New Jerseyy (2008). Baumann has curated internationally, including the 2013 Carnegie International in Pittsburgh, the annual Engadin Art Talks, and most recently Niko Pirosmani at Fondation Beyeler (2023). From 2015 to 2025, he served as director of Kunsthalle Zürich.


Together with Michelle Cotton, director of Kunsthalle Wien, and Monika Georgieva, independent curator and co-founder of Laurenz space, Daniel is curating the upcoming exhibition ‚’Lebt und arbeitet in Wien’ (Lives and Works in Vienna). It will open on Thursday 30 April 2026, and during the two weeks residency at PART, Daniel is scheduling meetings, and visiting artists’ studios.
