Eric Gyamfi (b. 1990) is an artist living and working in Ghana. His practice takes the photographic medium as a primary interest, focusing on examining and reprogramming its processes and materials to expand their functionality.
At PART, Eric is experimenting with building a range of cameras using diverse materials, each chosen for their unique properties and potential to shape the resulting image or sensing experience. He’s interested in how variations in construction—whether in the body, aperture, or recording surface, might lead to unexpected or unconventional outcomes. For Gyamfi, this is both a hands-on investigation into how photographic images are formed, and a deeper exploration of what it means to see, to record, or to leave a trace.
