Floriama Cândea (RO)

July - September 2025

Floriama Cândea (b. 1984) lives and works in Bucharest, Romania. Her practice spans photography, drawing, kinetic sculpture, installation, and experimental media such as biomaterials and living tissue. Often drawing on the aesthetics and tools of scientific imaging, her works investigate the ways memory, cognition, and perception are entangled with systems of classification, between reality and fiction.

At PART, Floriama continues her research into microfluidics as a method for investigating natural systems and interspecies interaction. Her current project explores breathing as a shared, political, and ecological act, developed in collaboration with scientists and programmers. Through responsive sculptural objects and installations, she examines how air and atmosphere can become both material and medium of collective survival.
